Further Fantom G development announced in interview
For all who wait for a reworked Fantom G soundset:
Today I read good news in the German "Keys" magazine, where a German leading Roland rep was asked about further Roland G development after the first OS update.
In short he stated three things concerning Roland Fantom G development:
- at the moment user requests for more ARX-boards are evaluated to decide which boards to develop in which sequence. Sounds to me like we will see more ARX boards, and perhaps even some which are really requested by live musicians, but that they won't appear in the near future but rather next year (my understanding, not his statement).
- new sounds/patches are already in the making and will appear soon (he talked of this summer, but I guess it could as well be autumn). This means we will have similar patch upgrades as we saw them from Korg recently.
- the most important part of the interview was perhaps the insider information that the G was released with plenty of headroom for further development, and Roland is willing to make use of that headroom.
I recall from memory and not literally, but these are really good news because they show that the G remains in active development and is not just planned as intermediate device with only minimal upgrades before a successor appears (as some in this board wrongly guessed).
Just the opposite seems to be true: the G is up and alive and will be significantly improved by Roland in the near future as well as further on...
